About the Artist

Cat Donohue is a Swiss-born artist who currently resides on Long Island, drawing abundant inspiration from its beaches and coastal landscapes. Growing up in the picturesque city of Lucerne, Cat's artistic journey led her to Paris, where she honed her skills at the École Supérieure De La Mode, earning a degree in Textile and Fashion Design. This experience ignited a lasting passion for fiber, textiles, and the creation of unique art pieces.

Following her studies, Cat gained experience in Parisian Fashion Trend offices before contributing her design expertise to the renowned Ermenegildo Zegna in New York City. During her time in New York, she collaborated with numerous high-end Italian fashion houses, developing a refined sense of color, texture, movement, and flow—qualities that now define her fiber art creations.

  • After moving from city life to raise a family, Cat channeled her design background into home decor, partnering with interior designers on Long Island. Her lifelong love for "making" and crafting unique items, whether through painting, drawing, or other artistic pursuits, culminated in her recent passion: "knotting," which she discovered during the pandemic.

  • Cat's artistic exploration delves into the captivating interplay of design, fiber, texture, and scale, resulting in wall hangings that not only infuse homes with a tactile, earthy warmth but also revitalize ancient Macrame knots with a contemporary approach to color and shape, ultimately elevating the art form to breathtaking new heights.

  • Cat's creativity extends to jewelry and accessories, using decorative knots from around the world, she crafts vibrant necklaces and bracelets. Cat embellishes various ropes with foil heat transfer and embroidery. She empowers clients to express individuality through color and texture, embracing the mantras: "Have fun and be YOU" and "Your vibe attracts your tribe".

Sunshine

When old friends from NYC reconnect after 25 years, the creative energy is palpable. I'm thrilled to collaborate with Heidi Humes, owner of the enchanting Sunshine boutique in East Hampton. This unique store is a treasure trove of curated and eclectic items, ranging from fashion and art to self-care products. Together, we're crafting exclusive products tailored specifically for the Sunshine community, blending our shared passion for creativity and connection.

Seagreen Design and Marak Lights

When I first collaborated with Shannon Willey, founder of Sea Green Designs on Long Island's East End, her sustainable and serene coastal style beautifully complemented my wall hangings and home decor. It was at one of my pop-ups in Southampton that I met Kate Mack from Marak Lights, whose sophisticated scented candles captivated me. This Holiday Trio celebrates our creative connection and friendship, blending our unique talents into something special.

Sara Roberts

A Holiday Collaboration with the very talented Sara Roberts from @goldiehomenyc.
I created these napkins rings to pair with her beautiful table linens. Her prints are beyond inspiring and it was a pure pleasure to add my creative touch to her beautiful designs.

Giving Back

As an artist and business owner, I believe in using my platform to support causes that resonate deeply with me. A portion of my proceeds is regularly donated to organizations dedicated to [mention area of focus, e.g., environmental conservation, arts education, social justice. Below are several of the organizations I support.

  • Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC)

    A non-profit that works to safeguard the earth, its people, plants, and animals, and the natural systems on which all life depends. They work to ensure everyone has the right to clean air, clean water, and healthy wild spaces

  • The Nature Conservancy

    This global nonprofit works to protect lands and waters. They tackle climate change by greening urban spaces, encouraging regenerative farming, and protecting clean waterways.

  • The Sierra Club

    A grassroots environmental organization dedicated to enjoying, exploring, and protecting the earth for everyone. They advocate for clean air, clean water, wildlife conservation, and the right of everyone to visit a national park.
